ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a strategic analyst in the Planning and Design Practice Area, you will collaborate with team members to conceptualize, deliver, and support our clients through today’s ever-changing public health landscape. NYSTEC is a trusted program advisor, providing subject matter expertise and connecting the dots for our clients.

The ideal candidate should have a diversity of strengths relating to public health, healthcare, and strategic planning. The candidate should be able to document discussions of leaders across a large organization, identify themes to understand their priorities and needs, and facilitate team sessions to collaboratively develop solutions to address client needs (e.g., develop strategic recommendations). The candidate should also be able to conduct external landscape analyses to identify themes among the findings and propose recommendations to address client needs. The candidate will also need to anticipate and communicate issues/risks, estimate their task duration, and present their findings. The candidate will need to exhibit strong writing, organizational, communication, and analytical skills to meet project goals.

The consultant’s work will include planning their tasks, proactively communicating when they need help, documenting client feedback and decisions, and creating presentations and documentation to elicit the client’s input and to address the client’s needs. The consultant will need to problem solve and take the first step on complex assignments, identify risks and issues, and present information clearly and concisely to inform team and client decisions.

Key Responsibilities

The strategic analyst will:

· Conduct current state analyses to understand and document the client’s current needs in various capacities.

· Perform external analyses in the public health/healthcare space to ensure the solutions proposed to the client are informed by practices of comparable, high-performing entities within NYS or in other states.

· Develop recommendations for clients that are informed by the findings from the current state and external analyses.

· Develop and manage project and communication plans.

· Facilitate team brainstorming and working sessions to inform project strategy and develop solutions to address client needs.

· Understand what needs to be done and work as a team player.

· Write clear, concise, and effective reports to help clients understand best practices and recommendations.

ABOUT YOU:

Required Qualifications

· Excellent writing, documentation, and communication skills to meet project goals.

· Strong organization and planning skills.

· Ability to develop relationships with stakeholders and understand their needs through excellent listening and effective written and verbal communication.

· Experience with strategic planning/business analysis in a public health, social services, or healthcare field.

· Ability to work both independently and with a team to develop recommendations and solutions to complex initiatives.

· Ability to be proactive when providing updates to the client and stakeholders, and the ability to think from their perspectives to anticipate questions, considerations, and needs.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications

· Experience/expertise in public health strategic planning.

· Experience working with public health, social services, or healthcare-related projects.

· Project Management Professional (PMP) or related certification.

Education and Experience

· A minimum of a bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience in public health.

· An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.

The pay range for this position is $79,793.00 to $109,716.00 per year.
