The Tourism and Hospitality industry, which has been one of the worst-hit by the global COVID-19 pandemic, is reportedly seeing an uptick in jobs.
According to data by job site Indeed, jobs in Hospitality and Tourism are witnessing improvement, with postings down 58% in September 2020, as against a 69% drop in May this year, as compared to last year.
Due to the economic crisis brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tourism industry also saw job postings decrease by 49% between March and August 2020, as compared to 2019. Overall, job postings in August 2020 were down by 56% compared to 2019, with job searches for these roles down by 44%, as compared to 2019. Job searches during this time also saw a 45% drop.
Job searches for tourism-related positions have been on the rise since May 2020, corresponding with the easing of lockdown measures across the country. Jobs saw a 30% rise between May and August this year, even as job postings during the same period saw a drop of 21%.
