Silicon Labs, a Texas-based wireless technology startup, formally opened its new headquarters in Hyderabad on Wednesday and announced plans to hire 1,000 staff by FY2025. It is the company’s largest worldwide engineering and wireless connection innovation center, spanning 1 lakh square feet across two levels and comprising 10,000 square feet of hardware and software labs. Next year, there are plans to take up more space to allow additional team expansion.
The team will continue to grow by producing cutting-edge IoT wireless products and solutions that promote industrial, commercial, home, and life applications with the growth in Hyderabad. Silicon Labs announced earlier this year that it has welcomed roughly 500 staff back to its new Hyderabad location, with plans to expand to 1,500 by 2025.
Hyderabad is rapidly becoming a top investment destination for the global technology industry, owing to the State government’s efforts to create a vibrant environment for global enterprises to access and engage the greatest talent in the country.
Commenting on the occasion Mr. Manish Kothari, the senior VP of Silicon Labs India said that the company’s Hyderabad campus will be serving as a center of excellence for integrated software and hardware platforms, user-friendly developmental tools, along with an ecosystem of emerging wireless technologies.
Mr. Matt Johnson, President & CEO of Silicon Labs, said that Silicon Labs is a founding corporate partner of the IIIT-Hyderabad Smart City Living Lab. On September 29, India’s first campus-wide Wi-SUN network will be introduced at the IIIT-H Smart City Living Lab as part of the initiative, which also includes other partners. With 30 built-in network nodes connecting the campus street lamps for remote monitoring and control, the network will function as a novel street-lighting application.
